 Our Build Peace Training series continues for a second summer with three classes not offered any other time of the year.


Friday, June 14

Introduction to Restorative Justice

8:30 am-12:30 pm

 

Introduction to Restorative Justice will help participants understand the differences between restorative processes and punitive processes.  Wrongdoing, whether within the criminal justice system, in our neighborhoods, communities or families, is seen as a question of harm, needs and responsibilities instead of a question of punishment.  Participants will learn and discuss:
·         Foundation and history of Restorative Justice
·         Appropriate uses for RJ
·         A skills practice for a Restorative Justice process
·         A plan for a Restorative Justice process for a situation with which they are familiar

Introduction to Circle Facilitation

8:30 am-12:30 pm

 

Introduction to Circle Facilitation will prepare participants to create and facilitate many types of circles in their classrooms, communities or families.  This 4 hour course is experiential as well as emotionally and intellectually stimulating.  Participants will learn and discuss:

·         Different types and uses for circles

·         The components and characteristics of circles

·         The use of ritual in circle experiences

·         A plan for a circle they would like to facilitate

Restorative Parenting


This 4 hour Restorative Parenting course looks at ways to help parents model and teach helpful communication and conflict resolution skills to children and youth.  The goal is for young people to take responsibility for good and safe choices, not because adults tell them to but because they care about themselves and others.  Participants will learn and discuss:

·         Brain development in relation to problem solving

·         Theories of punishment vs. inclusive problem solving

·         Skills for opening communication with youth

·         A simple 3 step process for solving problems

 

 

Take one course for $65, two for $120 or all three for $180.

Interpersonal Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training

July 29 - Aug. 2, 2013

8:30-4:30 PM     

ICR  class fee is $225 if taken alone.    If taken with Mediation Training the cost is $600

 ICR may be taken alone, however, it is a pre-requisite for the Mediation Skills Training

The fall training dates are Oct. 11, 12, 16-19, 2013
